A Focus on Golf: St Andrews and Photography 1845-1859

Peter N. Lewis, Fiona McDougall & Angela D. Morrison

Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews Trust, 2001

Using images from the collection of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club, A Focus on Golf: St Andrews and Photography 1845-1859 tells the story of the development of two major pastimes in Scotland, and more specifically in St Andrews. These are golf and photography in the 1840s and 1850s. This booklet undertakes a close study of some of the earliest golf images produced and narrates a fascinating social history of golf at a crucial stage in the development of the game in St Andrews.

A Focus on Golf is available from the Museum, priced £3.25 (plus postage & packing if mail order).
