If you are stuck for ideas for a suitable gift for Father’s
Day, then why not bring your dad or granddad along to the British
Golf Museum. The Museum is running a special offer, for one day
only, on Sunday, 16th June, Father’s Day. Simply bring your
dad or your granddad along with you to the Museum, and we’ll
spoil him to free admission. For every full paying child admission,
we will treat your dad or granddad to a special day out.
The Museum has many fascinating displays to appeal to all interests.
Newly opened this year is the 18th Hole. This hands-on gallery
explores golfing equipment. The central focus is a mini putting
green which allows visitors to putt using replica feathery, gutty
or rubber-core balls and, for example, a Philp putter, a Sunday
stick or Bobby Jones’ Calamity Jane putter.
Alternatively, the new temporary exhibition, A Royal Game: Golf
from 1952 to 2002 may appeal. Celebrating the Golden Jubilee year,
this exhibition explores golfing events through photographs from
the last 50 years. Images rarely seen before, such as Fidel Castro
playing golf in Cuba can be seen alongside more well known images
such as Arnold Palmer on the Swilcan Bridge at the 1995 Open Championship.
If your dad or granddad likes golf, he will love a visit to the
British Golf Museum.
